Red Circle New Brunswick

The "Red Circle" project was in the co-curate shows at Mason Gross in Fall 2019. Faith Franzonia (@faith_franzonia) and I made a room in the gallery where during the opening people were instructed to come in one by one, draw one red circle inside the box on the page, hand it to the person inside wearing a lab coat, have the option to receive a red circle drawn on the back of their hand, exit, and not speak of it. We were interested to see what percent of people would follow the directions, and who would purposely not follow the instructions. 

We led up to the gallery opening by running an instagram page, @redcirclenb, to build excitement and curiosity around the project. 

At the end of the gallery opening, we scattered all the responses we gathered that night, and went on to draw red circles on each other's lab coats, and once covered in red marker, we hung up the coats and closed the curtain that closed off the small room. 

It was a great experience to work with a friend on a project like this. Working out the details of behind the scenes of a show in a gallery was enlightening.
